Mid-summer update

Updated: Aug 16

Morning Bowbrook Archers members!

The next committee meeting will take place on Wednesday 26th August 7.30pm at Bowbrook's field. If you have anything that you would like to be discussed at the meeting please drop me or any other committee member an email or leave a sealed envelope pinned to the notice board in the club house.

It has been a different summer of outdoor shooting but it has been nice to see the field being used by archers again. This is an outline of some of the things that have happened and some news of things to come.

David Anderson and our coaching team have started up one to one beginners courses which is starting a trickle of new members. By now you will have had your emails from Shelia detailing the new membership fee and you will be receiving in the post a new purple membership card. Please remember to attach this to your quiver and to fill in the emergency contact sticker and affix to the blank side.

We have had cyclists stopping to watch the shooting from the gateway amazed at the quality and range of booked archery on show. Lyn Anderson has been quietly working away at updating the booking system so we can book our 2hr sessions a week ahead. Please do not be afraid to book your archery session and cancel if your plans or the weather changes. Jonathan Walton, Tim Swaine, and Fred Manley have been beavering away to organise the indoor range so that we can open this up to the booking system in September (details will be published and distributed on how to use the indoor range). Neil Clarke is checking our risk assessments are in place so we offer you a safe shooting experience. Watch the booking system for the arrival of Field Shooting at Dell Farm.

Jo Rawlings and Joe Becker are organising Bowbrook Archers Bank Holiday Fun (and safe) shoot this August bank holiday weekend. Look out for pictures of the shoot and Bowbrook Archers in their new Bowbrook head gear. We have had an official thank you from the Olympic Archerygb team which can be seen on their website https:www.archergb.org/olympic-archers-give-thanks-for-club-support-during-lockdown/. Our Jnr Rep Lauren Rawlings has started a Junior Bowbrook WhatsApp chat group to help juniors arrange their sessions and to keep them enthused. The new website is under construction by Patrick Broughton and I would like to take a moment to thank Dave Thornton for the time and commitment to the old website.

Hopefully by the next committee meeting in September our new website will be up and running and you can give us some feedback on what you like and what you would like to see added.

Keep booking and Shooting,

Marese Seabury (Secretary)
