National County Team Tournament – Selection Scores

Calling all Shropshire archers. Would you like to shoot for your County at the National County team tournament?

The shoot is held annually at Lilleshall and this year is on 29th – 30th June, but no Shropshire team has ever entered, so this year we hope to remedy that.

Each team consists of three archers of the same gender and bowstlye, we can enter as many teams as we like from the county so up to eight, but only full teams of three archers will be entered, one in each category:

Recurve gents/ladies, Compound gents/ladies, Longbow gents/ladies, Barebow gents/ladies.

The format of the shoot is:

Saturday morning WA 50/70m, Saturday afternoon team head to heads

Sunday WA 1440 gents/ladies shooting ends of six arrows at all distances

  • Recurve & compound archers shooting on individual 6 zone 80cm faces at 50/30m
  • Longbow archers shooting on full 80cm faces at 50/30m

The cost to enter a team of three archers is £145, of which the county has agreed to pay half, meaning any archers shooting will need to pay £24 each

As we do not have time to organise and run a selection shoot this year, it was decided at the county AGM to allow archers to submit scores for consideration on squad selection

It was agreed that rounds shot need to be representative of those to be shot on the day, so only scores from WA 1440 gents/ladies, WA 50/70m, York/Hereford, Long National rounds will be considered

Any scores submitted must be accompanied by a results sheet from an official competition, although the competition does not need to be record status – no practice scores, no later than 31st May.

Please submit all scores and accompanying results sheets to

Any Shropshire affiliated archer is free to submit scores for consideration and if juniors can shoot the distances required they will also be accepted. I will compile a leader board to be sent to club secretaries and posted on the SAS website so that everyone can see what scores they are aiming for and who is in the teams.
